John Johnson has over 25 years of development, construction, marketing and management experience and over one-billion dollars worth of high-profile development projects in the New York metropolitan area. Mr. Johnson has been principal in the development of a $100-million dollar mixed-use project in downtown Pittsburgh, PA, which was a joint venture between Met Life, Forest City Development and Jos L. Muscarelle, Inc. The project consisted of a 600,000 square foot, 28-story office tower, 50,000 square feet of retail space and a 200-room Vista International Hotel. Johnson was also responsible for the construction, marketing and leasing of Whiteweld, Barrister & Brown’s residential and commercial property portfolio throughout the United States.
Most recently, Johnson with his partners, Bluerock Development (a $2.5 billion – private REIT), completed the development and construction of “The Charles” on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The $300,000,000, 30-story structure consisted of 30-full-floor luxury residential units designed by Ismael Leya Architects.
Johnson and his partners continue to work with many well-known architects, general contractors and major developers in pursuing and assembling future development sites in the office, hotel and residential sectors.
Johnson earned his undergraduate degree at Pace University and his graduate degree in Real Estate at NYU. He spends as much time as possible supporting charities devoted to children’s education and health related issues. Mr. Johnson sits on the Board of Bergen Community College and currently serves as Vice President of the Greater Bergen Realtors Association and is the Past President of IOREBA, one of the oldest and largest real estate associations in the metropolitan area.
