Larry was born in Newark and raised in Rutherford, NJ. While attending high school, Larry worked in the family ShopRite business. He then attended Lehigh University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business and economics. In addition to his family business accomplishments, Larry provides leadership to a number of communities and other business organizations. He is the Chairman of Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation, and serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Wakefern Food Corporation, Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey and Lakeland Bank. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees for Hackensack Meridian Health, Montclair State University and Community Resource Council.

Larry and his wife Inez currently reside in Mahwah, NJ.
