An 18-year-old girl is getting a new home, designed for her needs, after a horrific crash in the Bronx killed her stepmother and left the young girl paralyzed five years ago.

Spring Lake Toys foundation funded a renovation for the Santucci family helping their three sons with a rare genetic disorder get around the home. Jen Maxfield reports.

Money raised will help with medical and special needs expenses for five children.

The groundbreaking has officially launched the beginning of construction for the Santucci family home expansion. This Fair Lawn family was in dire need of larger, handicapped accessible space after their three sons were diagnosed with Leukodystrophy, a rare and debilitating genetic brain disorder.

Paulette Pera Laurenzi, Founder and President of the Spring Lake Toys Foundation was recently honored with a $10,000 donation from Provident Bank—a prominent financial institution, recognized for their charitable work that is looking to make a difference in local communities by helping families of children with rare illnesses receive the support they need.
