Spring Lake Hope Foundation’s “An Evening in Italy” Ignites Compassion and Raises Crucial Funds for Families in Need

Franklin Lakes, NJ – April 24, 2024 – The Spring Lake Hope Foundation (SLHF) transformed an elegant soirée into a powerful testament of community support for families of children facing overwhelming medical challenges. The foundation’s annual “An Evening in Italy” fundraiser not only captivated attendees with gleaming Ferraris, a glamorous red carpet, and exquisite Italian cuisine but also raised vital funds and awareness for families grappling with the costs of life-saving treatments and medical expenses not covered by insurance.

The night was illuminated by the presence of special guest New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito, adding a touch of star power to an already awe-inspiring event. However, the true stars of the evening were the families and children that SLHF tirelessly supports, represented by young Miguel from Sparta, New Jersey, a recent recipient of a wheelchair accessible van that has transformed his daily life.

“Thanks to our incredibly generous sponsors and guests, we’ve been able to grant our seventh wheelchair-accessible van this year alone,” said Paulette Pera Laurenzi, Founder and President of SLHF. “Miguel’s story embodies the very essence of why we do what we do. Every van we provide is more than just transportation – it’s freedom, it’s hope, it’s a lifeline for these families struggling with the day-to-day challenges of debilitating illnesses.”

The outpouring of support from the community was overwhelming, with significant donations from key supporters including, Inserra Supermarkets, Commerce Park Investors and The Frassetto Companies. These substantial contributions will directly fuel SLHF’s van campaign which has already granted vans this year to five families in New Jersey and two in New York.

Miguel’s grandmother Dee Talty also was filled with gratitude for the generous donation, saying, “We are deeply grateful for the support from Spring Lake Toys Foundation, Paulette, and FT Mobility. The van has transformed our lives, giving us the freedom to enjoy activities with Mikey despite our own health challenges.”

In a poignant moment that underscored the foundation’s commitment to recognizing those who make its mission possible, SLHF honored its Chairman Salvatore V. Frassetto, for his five years of unwavering dedication and service. Laurenzi presented Frassetto with an award plaque, accompanied by a touching slideshow that highlighted his numerous contributions to SLHF’s mission and the lives he has helped change.

As the enchanting notes of Italian music faded and the last sips of fine wine were savored, it was abundantly clear that “An Evening in Italy” had transcended the boundaries of a typical fundraiser. The event stood as a powerful reminder of the extraordinary impact that can be achieved when a community unites in compassion and purpose.

“Tonight wasn’t just about raising funds,” Laurenzi reflected as the evening drew to a close. “It was about kindling hope in the hearts of families facing their darkest hours. Every donation, every van we grant, every moment of support we provide is a step towards a more manageable future for these incredible families.”

The Spring Lake Hope Foundation continues its vital work, turning evenings of elegance and generosity into tangible support and renewed hope for families navigating the complex challenges of severe illnesses. As the foundation looks to the future, it remains committed to expanding its reach and impact, ensuring that more families like Miguel’s can find the support they desperately need.
